What is Colorado Adventure Point?

We are a 20,000 square foot, two-story Adventure Education facility located in Denver, CO. Details of our Facility can be found HERE.

Is Colorado Adventure Point only for Boy Scouts?

No. Colorado Adventure Point is owned by the Denver Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, but operates as field trip destination, education center, and adventure outfitter for anyone who is interested in improving the quality of education that youth receive. CAP is proud to offer amazing experiences and educational methods to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, schools, day cares, youth advocacy groups, businesses, and the community at large.

Who can use Colorado Adventure Point?

Anyone. Right now we suggest having a group of at least 10 people to keep your costs low, but we do offer private lessons in all of our skill areas.

How do I use Colorado Adventure Point?

There are several ways. First, look through our website (You’re doing that already! High five!) to see the Facility we offer and the types of Programs we can create. Second, you can stop by for a tour during most business days 9am-5pm. We suggest calling ahead (303-455-5522) to make sure a tour guide is available. Third, you can fill out a Scout of School or Community survey with what you’re interested in to be contacted by our scheduling department.

How many people can use Colorado Adventure Point?

  • Somewhere between 1 and 600 people can use CAP at any given time. More useful estimates are below.
  • We suggest 10-50 people for standard adventures.
  • We can do private lesson/merit badge tutoring for $50-$75 per hour, split with up to 3 youth.
  • We can run your weekend-long conference for 300 people.
  • 16-25 people can use any one Adventure Zone at a time.
  • About 200 people can fit in our main room, the Leadership Development Center.
  • About 150 people could use our outdoor area.
  • About 75 people could fit in our archery room if used for a meeting.
  • About 120 people could fit in our rage/fitness room if used for a meeting.

Can I drop in this weekend/tonight/right now?

Not yet. One day we hope to have open hours on the weekends, but are still hiring more staff and making our building amazing (we only opened in April!). For now, the best way to experience the wondrous adventure of CAP is to sign up for a custom adventure with your group, or sign up for some of the courses we’re currently offering.

Do you teach merit badges at CAP?

Yes. At Colorado Adventure Point we can teach about 120 merit badges. So far Scouts have earned Archery, Rifle Shooting, Leatherworking, Personal Fitness, First Aid, and Safety merit badges, and have worked on numerous rank advancements for Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.  Badges are currently offered in two ways. First, CAP creates some weekend courses or summer/winter/spring break academies that teach multiple badges that anyone can sign up for. Second, Troops or families can contact us and schedule a custom merit badge class, keeping in mind that most badges require 6-10 hours of instruction. We are also happy to create custom requirements classes for Girls Scouts, 4H, and other youth programs.

What does Colorado Adventure Point cost?

For BSA/LFL members and partnering schools (partnering is a fun and easy process that has benefits for any school/youth group) the average cost of adventure is $10 per youth per hour.  This changes slightly based on materials being used, and can go down slightly with longer adventures.  Adventure Lock-in overnights cost about $30-$40 per youth, and Scout Hostel overnights cost about $12 per person.

For non-BSA/non-partnering schools and groups the cost is slightly higher due to our insurance rates for non-members.

Renting our 6,000 square foot main banquet room for your dinner/Court of Honor/ Adventure Wedding?/ or awards show is $100 per hour, and lets you rent our other adventure facilities at a steeply discounted rate during that event.

Renting the entire CAP building for your conference/corporate meeting costs about $2,500 for a full day, or $1,000 per four hour block, also allowing for steeply discounted adventures during that time.

Why does Colorado Adventure Point cost money?

It’s true that for Scouts used to camping for nearly free, and Schools used to field trips to the zoo or museum costing $5 per student, CAP may cost slightly more. However, dollar for dollar, Colorado Adventure Point also delivers more value to your youth. No other facility in the world offers our type of Adventure Education, and no matter what age, academic proficiency, or skill level your youth are at, we provide personalized challenges that make them learn and grow as a person. Customer after customer has seen us instill self-confidence, teach high level academic skills, and provide boundless fun through our adventures to youth across all ages and backgrounds.

Compared to any other program that teaches high-level adventure skills with low student/teacher ratios our costs are well below average. We encourage you not to stash away the extra dollar, but to invest it in skills and experiences that last a life time.

The low costs of CAP can be lowered further by partnering with us, setting up longer events, or setting up recurring events, like a weekly adventure club.

How do I partner with Colorado Adventure Point?

If you are a BSA member, Learning for Life member, STEM Scout, or Explorer Scout, one of the many benefits you have is discounted rates at Colorado Adventure Point, and a supplemental insurance policy that covers any sanctioned event you partake in as a group at CAP or elsewhere.

If you would like reduced rates at Colorado Adventure Point, supplemental insurance, and thousands of other great benefits of being a CAP partner your school, daycare, or youth facility can talk to our directors about becoming a partnered member. The cost is typically $5-$25 per youth depending on what type of membership you want, but the savings at CAP will pay for that in your first adventure. Partnering also provides you access to many other education opportunities made available by CAP and the Denver Area Council.

If you are a company or educational program that would like to help CAP provide meaningful Adventure Education to youth groups the CAP Directors will be glad to work with you. Clue Room already works with CAP to provide live escape programs at our facility, and Deep Space in Parker, CO works with us to provide robotics and programming courses.

What are the hours of Colorado Adventure Point?

Colorado Adventure Point is a 24/7 facility. Some events are pre-scheduled and can be registered for under Classes. Almost all adventures are custom created. We have groups starting at 6am, groups running over night, and groups all day long. Once you create your event we will schedule qualified staff to run it.

What is the referral program?

At the end of the booking process (and in the booking confirmation and booking reminder email), customers are invited by Bookeo (our registration system) to share the booking with their friends, clicking on the Post on Facebook or on the Post on Twitter button. When somebody registers using that unique link, the account of the originating customer is credited with a referral bonus. This credit can be used for all programs at Colorado Adventure Point!
