    EaglePoint Base Camp

    EaglePoint Base Camp
    Tahosa High Adventure Base

Summer Camp At Your Own Pace

EaglePoint is only one of three options offered for summer camp at Tahosa High Adventure Base. Tahosa is nestled in the Colorado Rocky Mountains with the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area in its backyard. Tahosa High Adventure Base sits on 320 acres of mountain property with an 18-acre spring-fed lake at an elevation of 9,000 feet.

At EaglePoint, troops have the ability to participate in a traditional summer camp with emphasis on the outdoor-types merit badges that are taught by staff. If a troop is feeling a bit more ambitious, they may want to bring in some of their own program and merit badge councilors and still take advantage of merit badges offered at EaglePoint.

Whether you chose to run your own program, participate in ours, or do a little of both, we promise your experience at EaglePoint Base Camp will be one of a kind!

Start the registration process now by selecting the date your troop would like to attend EaglePoint.

    An All-Inclusive Scouting Week

Archery... COPE... Climbing... Watching the sunset over Sawtooth Mountain...

For those troops who want to kick back and relax in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, the traditional summer camp schedule gives the Scouts the opportunity to move forward in rank. At EaglePoint first year Scouts are encouraged to take the following merit badges: First Aid, Orienteering, Wilderness Survival, Pioneering. By earning these merit badges, the Scout will also complete some of the rank advancement requirements needed to get to First Class.

Scouts can also cool off and jump into Tumblesom Lake, our natural spring-fed lake, as well as canoe, kayak or paddle board. Scouts of all ages can experience our low rope (COPE) course that emphasizes team building. For Scouts who are 13 and First Class, the high rope (COPE) course is accessible to challenge their personal fortitude at 30 feet off the ground. Learning all the skills and techniques for archery are also available for Scouts. Sign up for the climbing merit badge and learn to climb and belay on Tahosa's own Signal Rock.

Schedules? We Don't Need No Stinkin' Schedules!

    Moose... Bear... Chipmunks... Vistas...

Troops interested in planning and leading their own programs have a wider range of options available to them. In this program, adult leaders/older Scouts generally act as the merit badge instructors. Troops may cook in their campsites but must bring own patrol boxes and supplies and we supply the food. Evening program can be run by your Senior Patrol Leader and Scouts or attend EaglePoint's evening programs. If available, Tahosa High Adventure Base staff is willing to help, but may play a minor role in the day-to-day activities.

    Facilities

As you go through the Tahosa High Adventure Base gateway, Pickle's Aerie, the Welcome Center, is just in front of you. Troops must provide their own tents. Troops also have the flexibility of either eating prepared meals in the dining hall, cooking at their campsite, or a combination of both. Campsites are primitive and rustic. Latrines, hand wash stations and water buffaloes serve as the amenities. Shower schedules are posted each week.

Additional facilities include hiking trails on and off property, program support buildings, dining hall, Trading Post and Tumbleson Lake. The lake is filled with native Brook Trout so bring your fishing pole and tackle no fishing license is required. Kastmasters work the best! Come join us at Tahosa High Adventure Base and have an amazing week!
